Tavira is an extensive municipality, possessing over 600 km squared of land, and in it reside nine districts, all of them pertaining to Algarve, and all of them having tons of fun things to do.

Capanas de Tavira is one of these districts, which has a strong Portuguese flavor, and has a population of 1,500 people. It is similar to Cachopo, another district of Tavira that although it has been independent since 2001, is still very much bonded to Tavira.

Conceição has almost 2000 habitants and is the most populated of the municipality. In it is located Fuerte de San Joao Batista.

Luz de Tavira is also a municipality that has been independent since 2001, and is the second most populated of the nine, with almost 4,000 habitants. This municipality has a great archaeological richness, some of which are the Iglesia de Rocio de la Luz de Tavira, and also the Archaeological Roman Site, also known asthe Roman City of Balsa.

Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo has a little over 2,000 habitants, just like Santa Luzia, known as the world capital of Octopus.

The capital of Tarifa is Snata Maria de Tavira. It is the urban center of this municipality, and has over 8,000 habitants. In it reside monuments such as the la Capilla (chapel) de Nuestra Señora de la Piedad, the Iglesia (church) del Carmen o la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de las Ondas, and the bridge that crosses the Gilao River, or the New Art Building.

The route of the different frequesias of Tavira ends with Santo Estevao, a frequesia whose population barely reaches 1,000 people. In Santiago de Tavira, there are about 6,000 habitants and just like Santa Maria, it has a rich archaeological patrimony.
