Tavira is a municipality that has ove 11 kilometers of coast in which you will encounter some of the best beaches of Algarve, especially Ilha Beach, or Cabanas Beach. These are beaches that make up part of a protected natural park, that of Ria Formosa. The best beaches in Tavira are La Isla Beach or Ilha Beach, of which you can only get to by boat. There are regular journeys during business hours from the shore. This is a golden sandy beach with a middle level of occupation. It has excellent services, has find sand, is spaceous and clean, and is ideal for a nice swim in the sea.
You can also get there in baxi boats for 6 euros, or if you don´t mind waiting for the ferry, you´ll only have to pay 1 euro. The distance in either case is about 5 minutes. Here there is also a nudist part of the beach around the dunes.
There is also Barril Beach, and that of Santa Luzia Beach, about 3 km from Tavira, from the city center, and is easy to get to because there are signs everywhere showing the way. Part of it also forms the natural park. It is an extensive sandy beach with crystal clean water.
In general, the beaches of Tavira are very long in nature, have golden sand, and are much less frequented than the beaches of Vilamoura, Albufeira, or Portimao. They are perfect beaches to practice water sports such as scubadiving, surf, kitesurf, or windsurf. They are beaches that are ideal to relax on during your vacation in Portugal, or your vacation in Algarve. |
